My name is Amy Wright. I was born and raised and still reside in Northeast Mississippi. I am going in a few directions these days as a wife, as a mother of three teens and as a fifth grade English teacher.
I have been married to David since 1996 and we have three teenagers-Eli, Emma Kate & Gracie. When I am not attempting to plan meaningful lessons for my school kids, we go from activity to activity which includes baseball, basketball, and dance. We also enjoy taking care of our two dogs- Bo (Black Lab), and Sofie (Bichon and Shih Tzu mix) and one cat, Charlie who thinks he is a panther. Exercising, cooking, writing, and reading are my stress reliever activities! These activities help me to be nice in the classroom not to mention three red-headed teenagers!
After graduating from Amory High School in 1995, I attended a community college for one semester before transferring to The University of MS where I worked my way through college as a secretary. My husband and I also took care of his Great Aunt (with Alzheimer’s) and his little sister while working our way through college. I am impressed by that 20 something-year-old back then. I’m not so sure that I could do that now. I earned a bachelor’s degree and began my teaching career in 2000. After teaching for over a decade, I find that I love teaching even more now. My reward comes when I see the “aha” moment in my student’s eyes. I plan on completing my masters in Interdisciplinary Studies with disciplines in English and Writing in the summer of 2017. I intend on teaching fifth grade for a few more years. Eventually, I hope to teach English and Writing either at a local community college or online.
I started blogging as a way to share my experiences while honing my writing skills. I want to write to spark an interest, to spark a change, to spark motivation and to spark . . .
